About STEM-NET
STEM-NET is a multi-campus consortium based at the CSU Office of the Chancellor working with all 23 CSU campuses in STEM research and education. STEM-NET connects and strengthens faculty research and educational collaborations across the CSU system and across disciplines. It expands opportunities for active learning, innovative pedagogy, and supports CSU faculty in developing grant proposals with potential for scaling and sustainability with high impact and fundability.
Strategic Goals:
- Foster and support CSU-wide research, scholarship, and collaboration in STEM that support the vision.
- Promote, foster, and support faculty development to improve STEM teaching, learning, retention, and graduation across the CSU.
- Develop long-term sustainable funding for STEM-NET.
- Communicate with and engage key stakeholder groups in collaborative strategies supporting STEM-NET's vision.
- Promote and develop collaborative partnerships to increase capacity for K-12, STEM teacher preparation, and fortify the pathways into CSU STEM programs.
Representative STEM-NET Intersegmental Partnerships:
“Supporting Active Learning in Introductory STEM Courses with Extended Reality (ALIS-XR)” is a CSU/California Community College project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) STEM program. It aims to implement and evaluate active learning with XR technologies to improve learning outcomes and narrow achievement gaps for underrepresented minority (URM) students in introductory STEM courses. - "Rebalancing the Equity Gap in Chemistry Education with Individualized Adaptive Learning" is a UC/CSU collaborative project funded by the California Educational Learning Lab (CELL). STEM-NET, HSI-Hub & Partnerships with California Community Colleges
The CSU HSI-Hub is based at the CSU Office of the Chancellor within the STEM-NET consortium. It is supported by the Department of Education (ED) HSI-STEM Articulation Program Grant and is the centralized hub for dissemination of best practices. The Hub serves to facilitate the brokering of ideas, stimulate debate, and offer creative, yet practical solutions to study the most pressing problems in STEM education. The Hub is currently partnering with 34 community colleges across the state.
